Charity Bickcom

Charity Bickcom, a native of Chicago, Illinois has always known that her passion and purpose was in education. She attended and graduated from Virginia State University in 2017, where she received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies. Charity has a passion for education and helping others with the wholehearted belief that all students can learn when given a teacher who is competent, caring, effective, and reflective in their work. She is dedicated to making the learning environment for my students one which is inviting, and conducive to learning for all levels. She is licensed to teach elementary education and throughout her 7 year teaching career, she has taught fourth grade, K-5 Small group Mathematics, and coached K-5 teachers in implementing mathematics strategies. She has also recently been awarded the Teacher of the Year for her district. In 2019, Charity began her journey as a site coordinator at her alma mater, for the CDF Freedom Schools. During her time with the Freedom Schools Programs, she has maintained the roles of site coordinator, program director, and is now serving in her Second year as an Ella Baker Trainer. She has had the honor of servicing Level III and Level IV scholars in both the virtual and in-person setting. In December 2023, Charity completed her master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University, with plans to continue her advocacy for student equity in learning from supporting and building the knowledge of teachers and staff. When she is not in the classroom or Haley Farm, she uses her running passion and certification to coach an Elementary School run club and lead group adult run groups focused on mental wellness.
