Matthew Tippit Joins Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio Policy Team

COLUMBUS – Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio (CDF-Ohio) is proud to announce that Matthew Tippit has joined its policy team. CDF-Ohio has been a leader in advocating for policies and evidence-based practices that promote healthy childhood since its establishment in Ohio in 1981.

Mr. Tippit holds both a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University and is a licensed Social Worker. During and after his graduate work, he worked for the Ohio House of Representatives with State Representative Brigid Kelly.

Prior to his graduate work Matthew developed an interest in children’s issues through mentorship programs and an internship within Columbus City Schools. These issues are what moved him toward policy work instead of traditional Social Work positions. During his time in Representative Kelly’s office, he helped draft legislation, handled constituent outreach and casework, and helped facilitate local town hall meetings. Matthew is passionate about influencing a wide range of policies that will impact the whole child.

“CDF-Ohio is a strong, effective, independent voice for all children, working to elevate the issues that impact them most in our policies and funding,” said Kim Eckhart, interim state director of CDF-Ohio. “Matthew is a wonderful addition to our team because he cares deeply about these issues. His experience in public policy and social work makes him a knowledgeable and skilled professional. We are lucky to have him.”
