About 2026 Child Watch
This year’s Child Watch is anchored by the first anniversary of Education Justice Coalition’s report, Who Has the Power? Chronicling Los Angeles County’s Systemic Failures to Educate Incarcerated Youth. The event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the progress made over the past year, discuss where challenges remain, and identify priorities for continued action.
In addition to examining the report’s recommendations, attendees will hear directly from young people with lived experience, learn about the work CDF-CA and community partners have undertaken over the past year, including new research and community reports like our Long Beach report, and connect with leaders from across Los Angeles County who are working to advance educational equity and improve outcomes for children and young people.
Through youth storytelling, community dialogue, and policy conversations, 2026 Child Watch will highlight how collaboration across organizations, institutions, and communities can help drive lasting systems change.
Additional information, including keynote speakers, panelists, registration, and the full agenda, will be shared in the coming weeks.
We hope you’ll save the date and join us for this important conversation!
