We are disappointed that public charge regulations from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State will go into effect today, February 24. But we have not lost heart.
Litigation continues in the courts, challenging these wealth and health tests for what they truly are: discriminatory policies designed to force immigrant families to make impossible choices. Outreach and education in communities continues, too. We are encouraged by the outpouring of support from partners and allies working tirelessly to fight fear with facts. The Protecting Immigrant Families Campaign remains the place to go for accessible and accurate community-facing materials.
