Dr. Barbara Ferrer is the nationally recognized Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, which protects health, prevents disease, and promotes health equity and wellbeing among approximately 10 million residents. She oversees a department with a $1.9 billion budget and a workforce of 4,400 staff.
Dr. Ferrer has collaborated with community partners for over 40 years to foster racial, social, and economic justice. Her previous professional roles include public health leader, high school principal, philanthropic strategist, researcher, and community organizer.
