Child Welfare

Post Election Message from CDF-MN Executive Director Bharti Wahi

November 7, 2018

“With election results in, it is time to do the necessary work together to put Minnesota children and families first to build a prosperous future for our entire state. Incumbents and new leaders alike must now live up to the promises they made to Minnesota and our children on the campaign trail. No matter who holds the reins of power, we will always fight for the common-sense and compassionate policies that will advance the potential of every child by increasing family economic stability, expanding their access to health coverage and care, increasing access to early care and learning opportunities and ensuring federal, state and local governmental systems meet the needs of all children and meaningfully address the disparities experienced by children of color and American Indian children.”

“Specifically, we look forward to working with Minnesota’s newly elected leaders to expand and improve the Child Care Assistance Program, implement a statewide Paid Family and Medical leave program, increase the MFIP cash grant, and protect and enhance the health care gains we’ve made in recent years. We hope you will join us in advocating to ensure all Minnesota children can grow up safe, healthy and prepared for success,” said Bharti Wahi Executive Director of Children’s Defense Fund-Minnesota.
