Katherine Ungar Joins Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio Policy Team

COLUMBUS – Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio (CDF-Ohio) is proud to announce that Katherine Ungar has joined its policy team. CDF-Ohio has been a leader in advocating for policies and evidence-based practices that promote healthy childhood since its establishment in Ohio in 1981.

Ms. Ungar holds both a bachelor’s and law degree from The Ohio State University. Following graduation from law school, she was an associate in the litigation department of Ice Miller, LLP.  To further her interest in the intersection of law and health policy, she then joined the Preventing Tobacco Addiction Foundation. There, she worked with other national health organizations to build and engage local coalitions, draft legislation, and advocate for tobacco control policies at the local, state, and federal level.  Katherine is passionate about influencing public policy to improve child wellbeing and serves on the Advocacy Committee for Local Matters, an organization dedicated to food education, access, and advocacy.

“At CDF-Ohio, we believe that children don’t come in pieces and neither should our policies and funding,” said Tracy Nájera, executive director of CDF-Ohio. “As such, we are fortunate to have Katherine join the CDF-Ohio policy team. Her unique experiences in varied areas of child well-being, legislation, and advocacy allow her to be a powerful utility player in the child policy space, which is needed given the many areas of child well-being that CDF-Ohio advocates for every single day.”
