Beat the Odds® Event in Washington, D.C.
In a nation where today nearly 12 million children live in poverty, the Children’s Defense Fund has continued to work relentlessly for more than 40 years through our policy work, programs, and activism to serve as a strong, effective and independent voice for America’s children living in poverty, especially children of color and those with disabilities.
Our Beat the Odds Celebration allows attendees to experience hope and inspiration through the impacts of CDF’s work to improve the lives of all children—both in the region and across America. The Celebration also features our Beat the Odds Awards Ceremony where we honor five exceptional young people whose lives exemplify the problems we are seeking to solve as well as the incredible potential that exists in every child.
In addition to our Beat the Odds Celebration held in Washington, D.C., CDF holds five events annually in Columbus, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and New York City.
All proceeds from the Beat the Odds Celebration support the Children’s Defense Fund’s work to improve the lives of all children across the region and across America through our programs and initiatives.
Thank you to the attendees and the generous donors who have supported our work and our Beat the Odds honorees in the past.
Please join us on Thursday, March 12, 2020 in celebration of 30 years since the inception of our Beat the Odds program in 1990. We look forward to you experiencing an inspirational evening as we seek to honor and celebrate our Beat the Odds honorees; shine a light on the challenges facing millions of children around the country; introduce you to the work of the Children’s Defense Fund; and raise money to help us pursue that work across our many programs and initiatives.
