The Paul V. Smith Fellows Program
The Paul V. Smith Fellows program provides opportunities for talented young researchers to explore issues of national significance to children and their families. Graduate students with experience and interest in research on social and political matters are invited to apply to the Children's Defense Fund for the Paul V. Smith Fellows program that will begin in the Fall of 2009.
Fellows are selected for a year-long assignment with the CDF national office in Washington, DC, through which they will participate in a major research study in one or more of CDF's priority areas. Fellows will conduct independent research under the guidance of a staff researcher, construct research questions and design review models. To be selected, the student must complete an application package that includes a statement by the applicant about an area of national significance to children and a potential research question related to this area of concern (no more than 500 words). The Fellow will receive a scholarship award and recognition at various CDF events. The fellowship application for the 2009-2010 academic year and additional information will be available beginning January 1, 2009 on this webpage.
