Protect Babies, Not Billionaires; Children, Not Corporations: There is Still Time

There is still time.  We have another chance to help stop the unjust, expansive, and immoral Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.  It rewards wealthy households and corporations at the expense of middle and lower income children and families and will result in deep cuts in Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, Supplemental Security Income, and other critical programs for children to help pay for the nearly $1.5 trillion deficit it creates.  Remember too the Senate bill repeals the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate and penalty and leaves 13 million more children and adults uninsured in 2027 and many with higher insurance premiums, a provision likely to remain in the final bill. A House/Senate Conference Committee is now trying to reconcile differences between the Senate and House bills.  The final version of the bill (called a Conference Report) must then be voted on by both the House and the Senate probably early next week before it can go to the President for signature.  It really can’t be fixed.  It can be stopped. Join the more than half of all Americans that recent Quinnipiac University and CBS News polls show disapprove of the tax plan.

Call (877) 233-9025 to urge your Representative to vote NO on the Tax Cut and Jobs Act when it is voted on again soon.  The tax cut bill harms children and their families and is a missed opportunity to invest in what our country’s children really need.

Here's what you can say:

I am calling from (CITY) in (STATE) to urge you to vote NO on the Conference Report on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act when it is voted on soon.  It can’t be fixed! It continues to reward wealthy individuals and corporations at the expense of low and middle income families and their children. It will also result in deep cuts Medicaid, SNAP and other critical programs for children to help pay for nearly $1.5 trillion deficit the bill creates.
