Nationwide

On July 11, 2008, thousands of children and teens from CDF Freedom Schools sites nationwide participated in CDF Freedom Schools National Day of Social Action. The social action and civic engagement component of the CDF Freedom Schools model teaches youth to engage in community service and social justice advocacy. This year, participants took part in a variety of actions including visiting and writing letters to elected officials, joining together for marches and rallies and leading awareness activities in support of health coverage for all children. The thousands of CDF Freedom Schools scholars who participated in the National Day of Social Action provide proof that we can solve this problem if each of us does our part.
