Irene Nevil helped the Children’s Defense Fund improve the lives of children.

Irene Fialkoff Nevil was a mother, business leader, international traveler and longtime friend and supporter of the Children’s Defense Fund. Before beginning a successful career in business, Irene earned her undergraduate degree from Pomona College in Claremont, California, and a graduate degree from Columbia University. She was the co-founder and vice president of Meridian International — an export management firm.

Upon retirement, Irene dedicated her life to making the world better than she found it. She volunteered her time and generously donated to many charities — including the Children’s Defense Fund. With gifts spanning three decades, Irene was a dedicated supporter of the Children’s Defense Fund and then had the foresight and generosity to remember the Children’s Defense Fund in her estate planning.

Loved by many friends and family, Irene is remembered as living life to the fullest, even as she battled cancer. On January 13, 2014, Irene Nevil passed away in her Los Angeles home. She is survived by her three sons, Chris, Robert and Alex, and their father, Charles Nevil.

The Children’s Defense Fund is grateful for advocates like Irene F. Nevil who have supported advancing our mission to improve the lives of children.
