Do you want to help raise funds for CDF crucial child advocacy efforts? Here are several ways to create personal fundraising pages to help support CDF:
Facebook Causes: Do you have a birthday coming up? Instead of just writing on your wall, or giving you something you don't need, why not give your friends the opportunity to help a cause you believe in? Well, you can do just that (and help support the Children's Defense Fund) with Facebook's new Birthday Cause! Learn more.
If you are a member of a Facebook Cause you can also create a "fundraising pledge" where you can create a personal page and pledge to raise funds from your friends and family to support CDF. Get started today!
Change.org: Not a member of Facebook? At Change.org, you can easily help support the latest fundraising campaign at CDF by creating a personal fundraising page. It's simple:
- Create an account at Change.org.
- Become a supporter of Children's Defense Fund on Change.org.
- Click on the link "Start a Fundraising Page" and follow the instructions on how to create your personal fundraising page.
- Invite your friends and family to donate through your page to meet your goal.
Donors and brokers should contact Marlena Lanham-Tracy at 202-662-3538 in CDF's Development Department for assistance with making a stock gift to the Children's Defense Fund. We will need to know what stock you are sending, when you expect the gift to be made, and if there is a particular program you wish to benefit. To further ensure timely acknowledgement of the gift, donors or their transferring broker should notify CDF by written correspondence for all securities transfers.
Donors and transferring broker may also communicate the following information at the time of transfer via e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org:
Stock gift made by transfer should be wired to Wells Fargo Advisors as follows:
Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC
Attn: George Bragaw
250 West Pratt Street, 23rd Floor
Baltimore, MD 21201
1-800-638-0626 Fax: 410-727-4682
email@example.com Cc: firstname.lastname@example.org
Note: According to IRS regulations, the date on which the stock changes ownership (transferred electronically) is the actual date of the gift. This must occur on or before December 31st for the donor to be eligible for a tax deduction in that year.
Planned giving creates opportunities for both the Children's Defense Fund and our donors. Determining what gift is right for you is just as important as making the gift. There are many options from which you may choose. The correct plan for you balances what you wish to accomplish for yourself, your family, and your charitable interests in your overall estate and financial plans.
For information about CDF's planned giving program, making a gift from your estate, or gift opportunities in general, please contact Marlena Lanham-Tracy at 800-233-1200 (toll free) or email@example.com.
