Designations Where Our Need is Greatest Your donation to CDF Funds allows us to continue to work with individuals, communities and policy makers to enact, fund and implement public policy and promote successful programs that lift children out of poverty, protect them from abuse and neglect, ensure access to health care and quality education, and provide a moral and spiritual foundation to help them succeed with the support of caring adults and communities. Contributions to CDF Funds are tax-deductible.
Beat the Odds® Program The Beat the Odds program recognizes and awards college scholarships to young people who have overcome adversity in their lives, demonstrate academic excellence and have given back to their communities. Contributions to the Beat the Odds scholarship program are tax-deductible.
CDF Freedom Schools® Program The CDF Freedom Schools program is a summer and after-school reading enrichment program that served more than 8,000 students in 61 cities across the country in 2007, and more than 64,000 students overall since its inception in 1995. With the involvement of parents, families, and the community, the CDF Freedom Schools program fosters in children a "love of learning" and empowers them to make a difference in their communities and nation. Contributions to CDF Freedom Schools are tax-deductible.
CDF Action Council The CDF Action Council is a social welfare organization under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code and may pursue educational, lobbying and some limited partisan activities on behalf of children. Contributions to the CDF Action Council are NOT tax-deductible.
State Offices The Children’s Defense Fund has nine state and regional offices around the country that carry out our mission, programs and initiatives on the local level. State and regional offices include: California, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Texas, Minnesota, South Carolina, Tennessee and the Southern Regional Office located in Jackson, Mississippi. You can help support your state programs and services through a designated gift. Contributions to State Offices are tax-deductible.
