Donate Stock

Donors and brokers should contact Carmel Owen or Mina DeNigris in CDF's Development Department or Virdin Barzey in CDF's Finance Department at 1 (800) 233-1200 for assistance with making a stock gift to the Children's Defense Fund. We will need to know what stock you are sending, when you expect the gift to be made, and if there is a particular program you wish to benefit. To further ensure timely acknowledgement of the gift, donors or their transferring broker should notify CDF by written correspondence for all securities transfers.

Donors and transferring broker may also communicate the following information at the time of transfer via e-mail, donations@childrensdefense.org:

  • Donor's name and complete address
  • Name and number of securities transferred
  • Name and contact info of brokerage house transferring shares
  • Date of the transfer
  • Whether donor would like to remain Anonymous

Stock gift made by transfer should be wired to Wachovia Securities as follows:

craig.b.diamond@wachoviasec.com Cc: donations@childrensdefense.org

Note:  According to IRS regulations, the date on which the stock changes ownership (transferred electronically) is the actual date of the gift.  This must occur on or before December 31st for the donor to be eligible for a tax deduction in that year.

Donate Through Planned Giving Options
Planned giving creates opportunities for both the Children's Defense Fund and our donors. Determining what gift is right for you is just as important as making the gift. There are many options from which you may choose. The correct plan for you balances what you wish to accomplish for yourself, your family, and your charitable interests in your overall estate and financial plans.

For information about CDF's planned giving program, making a gift from your estate, or gift opportunities in general, please contact Craig Rocklin at 202-662-3538 (direct) or 877-233-9025 (toll free) or crocklin@childrensdefense.org
