Medicaid: What is it?  Who is eligible?  What is included?

Established in 1965, Medicaid is a joint federal-state entitlement program that finances health coverage for certain low-income families, children, pregnant women, and individuals who are aged, blind, or disabled. Passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2009 gave states a new opportunity to expand coverage to all Americans age 19-64 with incomes below 138 percent of poverty.
