Jeannette Wright: 2011 CDF-California Beat the Odds® Scholarship Recipient
As the child of a deaf mother and a deaf and mute father, Jeannette has assumed adult responsibilities for much of her young life. Living on Social Security benefits and food stamps, Jeannette’s parents have struggled to provide for their daughter and have often gone hungry when resources are limited.

On November 15th, CDF celebrated five extraordinary high school students who have overcome tremendous challenges to excel academically and give back to their community. Each scholar received a scholarship, college counseling, a laptop computer, and an invitation to join CDF leadership training ladder to help pave the road to college and a successful adulthood.
