Goodman: US Has Turned Pages, Not Closed Books On Racism

My father, Robert Goodman, lost his middle son, Andy, on June 21, 1964. Today, as it did 51 years ago, June 21 falls on Father's Day. In 1964, Andrew "Andy" Goodman, James Chaney and Michael Schwerner drove to visit a burned church in Longdale, Mississippi — they were murdered by racists who hoped to prevent the enfranchisement of people of color. On Father's Day 2015, we must again mourn a hateful act, tied to another historic black church, on a day that should be devoted to love and family.
