We Need to Make City Safe and Peaceful

Letter to the Editor: Too many of our teenagers and young adults are dying, and it hurts so much. Living a destructive lifestyle and being unable to let it go has numbered their days. With alcohol, drugs and fighting with them killing each other, there is a need for strong, committed, uncompromising leadership. According to a report from the Children's Defense Fund in Washington, D.C., on any given day in America, there are an estimated 59,355 children in juvenile correctional facilities; 5,388 runaways; 3,853 impregnated; 10 or more die from gunshot wounds and suicide. And the dismal statistics go on. This city that we share and love does not need to be under siege from drugs, crime and violence.
