To reduce the deficit, the currently proposed version of the Farm Bill cuts more than $4 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program, or better known as food stamps. Once again, rather than reduce corporate subsidies to insurance companies, many of which are located overseas, the Senate is set to slash a critical safety net for children, seniors and veterans who are in need of food assistance.
