Freedom School Seeks to Create Productive Summer for Kalamazoo Inner-City Youths

About 50 Kalamazoo children in grades K-12 are participating this summer in Freedom School, a national program organized by the Children's Defense Fund to promote literacy and other skills in African-American students. The Kalamazoo program is coordinated by Demarra Gardner, a social worker who brought the project here in 2008.
