Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Friday slightly revised his city budget proposal from its February iteration, mostly by restoring almost all of the day-care cuts he had proposed. However, he devoted much of his podium time to lamenting the city's loss in state aid. His budget plan still calls for layoffs of about 4,600 teachers, which, combined with attrition, would result in more than 6,000 fewer teachers in city schools next September.
