Hundreds of health care advocates rallied at the Texas State Capitol Wednesday and warned that proposed Republican cuts to health care funds would have disastrous consequences for the state's children. The Tribune quotes Lan Bentsen, chair of the CDF-Texas advisory board, as saying if lawmakers cut funding to these programs, the state will be forced to give up roughly $10 billion in federal matching funds — funding that will have to be made up by local governments. "That’s really bad math, and they want to get away with it," he said. "It’s up to us to stop them."
