Na Eng

Na Eng, a 1994 CDF-Minnesota Beat the Odds® scholarship winner, won a 2008 Emmy award for her work as a television producer for the PBS series, NOW on PBS. CDF's Beat the Odds program identifies and rewards young people who have experienced great adversity in their lives and supports and trains them to become future adult leaders.
Na thanks CDF-Minnesota and the Beat the Odds scholarship for helping her along the path to success.
"For a Cambodian-American refugee raised by a single mother on the East Side of St. Paul..., the [Beat the Odds] scholarship came in handy when I was a student at Columbia University in New York City. Upon completing my education, I was awarded a Fulbright to produce an independent film in Zimbabwe and then went on to work as a journalist for terrific companies such as the BBC and NBC News. I am currently a television producer for the public affairs show NOW on PBS. I want to thank the Children's Defense Fund-Minnesota for its role in supporting my education and encouraging me to reach my highest aspirations. Without generous support from community groups such as [CDF-Minnesota], surely, I would not be where I am today."
