The 2009 Lookin' to the Future Conference will convene hundreds of social workers from across the state with an independent living component for the foster children. CDF-Southern Regional Office will lead a Cradle to Prison Pipeline® workshop for both the professional attendees as well as a youth tract component for the teens in foster care that will be in attendance. -

This two-day summit in Sacramento, California on February 26-27, 2009 convened more than 500 attendees who shared promising approaches and developed community action plans to stop the funneling of thousands of children down a pipeline to prison. -

CDF-NY's Cradle to Prison Pipeline® Summit, "Connecting the Neighborhood-based Dots"
On February 11, 2009, more than 400 people attended CDF-NY's summit, "Connecting the Neighborhood-based Dots: Promoting Solutions to Dismantle the Pipeline to Prison." The summit focused on public awareness regarding the urgent need to address the systemic issues which are driving children from New York's poorest communities into New York's juvenile detention centers, the need to invest in successful community based alternatives to detention and promising solutions and neighborhood based approaches to dismantling the pipeline. -

The New Orleans Workforce Participation Summit will address how our community can create a demand for jobs made available through the rebuilding of New Orleans’ infrastructure. New Orleans will receive more than three billion dollars to rebuild the city and we want to insure that the residents of New Orleans, especially at risk youth, have fair access to these employment opportunities.
