Lori Wood brings to CDF over 20 years of experience managing large departments, leading critical campaigns and developing strategies to help working families. At the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Lori was a key strategic partner in growing a dynamic labor union that more than doubled in size, from under 1 million to 2.2 million members during her career there. Lori held many roles within the union, demonstrating her natural leadership abilities through ever increasing responsibilities.
Lori began with a role in the field where she was responsible for compliance and financial audits of local unions throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. She then served many years in the SEIU Benefit Funds Office. During her career at SEIU, Lori took on many projects and responsibilities, including oversight of all operations and logistics of the 2008 and 2012 Quadrennial Conventions in Puerto Rico and Denver, Co.
From November of 2008 until she joined CDF, Lori was the Deputy Chief of Staff at SEIU. In this role, Lori was an integral part of the senior staff team that developed plans and strategies to achieve the ambitious goals of the union. During the 2012 presidential campaign cycle, Lori led the union’s election protection efforts. She worked with numerous union leaders and key allies to launch campaigns to wage successful battles against voter suppression. These efforts unlocked disenfranchised voter potential in multiple states.
