The Children's Defense Fund is an organization deeply committed to our Leave No Child Behind mission and to ensure that every child has a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start in life and successful passage into adulthood with caring families and communities. For 40 years, CDF has combined advocacy, public education, policy development, leadership training and other efforts to protect children and encourage preventive investment in children before they get sick, drop out of school, suffer family breakdown, or get into trouble.

Finance interns will be involved with financial record keeping and basic accounting tasks as well as special projects related to financial processes and records.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Performing account reconciliations.
• Review of travel expense and other vouchers.
• Organizing records and files.
• Tracking and maintaining contract management system.
• Special accounting and finance projects under supervision.
• May include some general office support, clerical, and/or data-entry duties.

Preferred Experience/ Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Discretion.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Interest in finance and accounting.
• Some business and accounting classes helpful.
• Ability to work effectively individually or collectively.
• Declared major of Accounting, Finance, or related discipline or experience is a plus.
• A minimum commitment of 15 hours per week.
