Emily Hotez

Emily Hotez, a Rockville, Maryland native, is a Ph.D. student in developmental psychology at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She received her bachelor’s degree from the George Washington University in 2011 with a major in psychology (concentration in developmental psychology) and a minor in Hispanic language and literature. Her past professional experiences include working as an educator in a special education school in Costa Rica, interning in the White House Office of Health Reform under President Obama, and working in various research settings on topics including adolescent parents, home visitation, and children with autism spectrum disorders. Throughout the remainder of her doctoral studies and career, she plans to continue to pursue work that links research on child development with practice and policy. Currently, Emily is an intern in the office of Child Welfare and Mental Health in CDF’s National Office in Washington, D.C.
