Carrie Kocot

Carrie Kocot, a native of New Providence, New Jersey, is a graduate student in Vanderbilt’s child studies program. Her interest is in prevention of poverty and promotion of disadvantaged individuals. Throughout her education, Carrie has studied a range of pertinent issues facing children and families, such as infant mortality, childhood obesity, HIV/AIDS, culturally competent interventions, emotional and behavioral disorders, incarcerated parents, and school dropouts. Through this experience, she hopes to gain in depth insight into the policy process, bolster her applied research skills, and contribute to the CDF mission. Carrie plans to graduate from Vanderbilt in August after this internship, and she hopes to continue researching current issues and best practices for vulnerable children. She is an intern in the Policy Research department here in CDF’s National Office in Washington, D.C.
