Mandisa Thomas

Mandisa Thomas, a native of Philadelphia, is a senior at Howard University majoring in anthropology and minoring in human development. For the first semester of her senior year, she studied at the University of Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. During her semester abroad she actively coordinated community fundraising efforts through the Egoli Project and wrote a directed a play about racial stereotypes in South Africa. Mandisa first became interested in CDF and its work as a Servant Leader Intern in Philadelphia with the CDF Freedom Schools® program. These experiences have sparked her desire to become a force of change in the education system and advocate for children. Mandisa plans to pursue a master’s degree in order to focus on improving children’s lives at home and in school through health initiatives.
