Lauren Outlaw

Lauren Outlaw

Lauren is in her final semester at Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law and is interning in the early childhood division of the policy department. She is originally from New Jersey and obtained her bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University, graduating in May. Lauren is interested in pursuing a career that combines education policy and the legal dynamics associated with advocating for children’s rights.

She is working with CDF staff to organize a campaign that would ensure all children in the U.S. have access to full-day kindergarten (FDK). Her work includes research of current state legislation around FDK, “draft” writing of policy positions, and outreach to FDK experts and supporters in partner organizations. She is also assisting the k-12 education staff as they craft CDF’s position on the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
