Amy Novak

Amy Lange Novak has over 10 years of professional experience in the education arena. After earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary/special education from Bellarmine University, she spent four years teaching in the Louisville public education school system, working in a self-contained unit for children with learning and behavior disorders. Upon completing her master’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University, Amy began managing education programs for foster youth at the Seattle-based non-profit, Treehouse. After working in both direct service and program management, Amy became an intern in the Education and Child Welfare Departments of the Children's Defense Fund to understand the broader policy picture and how it impacts education and child welfare systems. She has spent the majority of her time at CDF focused on priorities for the reathorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act including those that impact youth in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
